Acer palmatum 'Fireglow' is one of the best red Acers – successfully holding its red colouration through the summer months. This medium-sized, upright Acer unfurls red leaves in spring that deepen through summer with dark green undertones. In autumn, the foliage transforms into a blaze of crimson, the translucent leaves beautifully filtering the sun and offering a fiery finale to the growing season. After leaf-fall, the bushy but gracefully spreading branches, decorated with small, winged fruits, continue to add elegant structure to the winter landscape. The striking colour of ‘Fireglow’ makes a strong focal point for garden borders, rockeries or pond-side planting, where its brilliance will cast gorgeous reflections. Its strong red foliage enables it to cope with warmer, sunnier sites than other Acer varieties. Height and Spread: 2.5–4 m (8.2-13.1ft).

Grow Acers in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. It's important to give plants shelter from strong winds which can scorch the leaves.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter.
