Acer palmatum 'Summer Gold' forms a compact tree with a rounded crown making it more suitable for narrower spaces than other spreading acers. Seven-lobed, palmate leaves emerge pink in spring accompanied by delicate green flowers that later give way to red winged fruit. The foliage turns lime-green with red margins in summer, then blazes in multiple shades of gold, salmon, orange and red in autumn.
