Butomus umbellatus is a native hardy perennial making it useful for wildlife ponds. The lightly scented blooms of the Flowering Rush are loved by hoverflies and butterflies. The distinctive triangular stems are characteristic of reeds, with the foliage turning from red to green with maturity. Grow this eye catching marginal aquatic in boggy soil at the edge of ponds or submerged on a pond shelf. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 45cm (18"). Planting depth: Zone 2 & 3 up to 25cm (10") below water level.Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
