Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

This elegant clone of the common hornbeam is a popular tree for formal avenues, screening and topiary due to its slender, erect, pyramidal shape and regular, densely-branching habit. Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata' carries lovely, corrugated foliage which turns bright yellows and oranges in autumn. The parachute-like fruiting catkins are a decorative feature throughout late summer and autumn. This tough tree copes well with exposed positions, provided it enjoys well-drained soils. Attractive to wildlife. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height and spread in 20 years: 7m (23ft) x 3 m (10ft).

The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
