Gleaming white flowers attract pollinating insects
Blooms are borne in profusion in summer
Thompson & Morgan is delighted to work alongside the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to offer special seed collections to home gardeners. This Kew Pollinators Collection has been specially selected by The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Malva moschata 'Snow White' is a dwarf variety producing masses of gleaming white flowers with delicate pale pink stamens in late summer. This pretty perennial is simple and understated but makes a surprisingly eye-catching display. The flowers are loved by pollinating insects making this a great choice for a sunny spot in the perennial border or a wildlife area. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 45cm (18").
1 Packet (40 Seeds) (KB7571)
Sow Malva indoors from February to June, or September to October in a good seed compost. Sow seed on the surface of the compost, gently firm down and cover with a fine layer of compost or vermiculite. Place inside a propagator at a temperature of at 15-20C (59-68F) or seal inside a plastic bag until after germination. Keep the soil damp but not wet. After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Germination usually takes 7-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.
When Malva plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting in their final positions.
