Even the smallest garden will benefit from an explosion of spring bulbs. Long before most other plants, these heralds of spring are working their way upwards through the soil to dazzle you with their bright blooms. Spring bulbs are at their best when planted in dense groups, so it’s worth being generous when planting! This great value duo will give you more than enough spring bulbs to create a long lasting display in beds, borders and containers.

Duo includes:

  • Snowdrop (Single-flowered) (Galanthus nivalis) - Drifts of graceful nodding snowdrops signal winters end with an understated elegance. These native beauties love to shelter in dappled shade at the base of trees and shrubs, but look equally any home in an alpine garden, or naturalised in grass. Why not try them in window boxes and containers as part of a mixed planting scheme. Versatile and vigorous, they will quickly multiply to create a carpet of single-flowered blooms. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 10cm (4").
  • Narcissus 'Tête á Tête' - Delightful miniature daffodils that will brighten even the dullest of spring days. The radiant yellow flowers of dwarf Narcissus 'Tête á Tête' are produced freely and reach only 15cm (6") in height. Undemanding and easy to grow, they are ideal for borders, rockeries and containers for a sunny windowsill; or grow them in bold drifts naturalised in grass. The neat clusters of yellow trumpets make these narcissus flowers excellent for cutting. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 8cm (3").

Plant snowdrops in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. Snowdrop bulbs thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting to improve less than ideal soils. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 10cm (4") apart. For natural looking drifts of snowdrop flowers, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!

Daffodil and narcissus bulbs are easy to establish in any moist, well drained soil. Plant the bulbs in full sun or semi-shade at a depth of approximately 10cm (4") and at a distance of 10cm (4") apart. Narcissus and Daffodils look particularly eye-catching when grown as drifts in borders or informal areas of grass. For a really natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land.

For an attractive indoor display, plant daffodils and narcissus in containers of bulb fibre and position them cool garage or other well ventilated, dark position at a maximum temperature of 10°C (50°F). Water sparingly when necessary to keep the compost moist. When the growing shoots reach a height of 10cm (4") move the containers to a cool bright position indoors (approximately 16°C or 60°F).

Snowdrops require reliably moist soil throughout summer. Water bulbs if necessary until they are fully established. When growing snowdrops, it is essential to allow their foliage to die back naturally as this will feed the bulb for the following year. Where bulbs are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back. Caution: Snowdrop bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it in June or July. This will help to feed the bulb for the following year. When growing daffodils and narcissus that are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back. Caution: Contact with daffodil bulbs may irritate the skin and eyes. Harmful if eaten.
