You’ll be tickled pink by the intense colour of Weigela ‘Big Love’, which is distinguished by the brilliance of its hot pink tubular flowers. There should be a place for long-flowering Weigelas in every garden. Vigorous, bushy and totally undemanding, Weigela ‘Big Love’ blooms from late spring to early summer, with new buds constantly being formed to burst into masses of flowers that lure bees and bumblebees. With a compact habit, densely clothed in simple oval, green leaves, ‘Big Love’ is equally suited to container growing or mixed borders. Height: 150cm (59in). Spread: 100cm (39in).

Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
