Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Better known as Night Scented Phlox, this intriguing little perennial produces a beautiful vanilla fragrance that perfumes the evening air. The cup-shaped, white flowers are formed of intricately cut petals, like tiny doilies! The reverse of each bloom is suffused in deep red, creating a striking contrast.

The foliage of Zaluzianskya ovata 'Star Balsam 'is sticky in texture and remains semi-evergreen all year round. Grow it outdoors on the patio table in summer where its scent can be enjoyed on warm summer nights. Although reasonably hardy, it is best moved to a greenhouse or conservatory in winter to protect it from cold, wet weather. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Grow Zaluzianskya on any moist, fertile, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun.

Feed and water regularly until fully established. After flowering cut back hard to promote new, bushy growth. In cold locations, Night Scented Phlox is best moved to the greenhouse during the winter months. Reduce watering in winter.
