Crocus ‘Dutch White’ boasts large, goblet-shaped flowers in pure white with golden throats and stamens.

Less delicate than the smaller, earlier crocus varieties, these large Dutch crocus are bold and beautiful. These tough bulbs will readily push their way through turf, studding lawns with their jewel-like colours and sparkling in the spring sunshine. They are also suitable for planting in borders, usefully filling gaps between perennials, or underplanting around deciduous trees and shrubs where they will add a splash of colour to bare ground. For extra drama, combine them with early daffodils, snowdrops, Iris reticulata and Aconite (Eranthis).

If space is limited, or you fancy bringing spring nearer the house, plant them into pots on the patio. Why not try a ‘bulb lasagna’, and plant layers of tulips, daffodils and crocus in one container for a successional spring display!

Despite their jewel-like appearance, these bulbs are really tough and once planted will reward year after year with no effort. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 5cm (2in).

Grow crocus in any well drained garden soil in sun or semi shade. Spring flowering crocus bulbs should be planted during the autumn, in large clumps at a depth of 10cm (4") and at a distance of 7cm (3") apart. Alternatively grow them in containers or naturalised in grass.
Allow the strap like foliage to die back naturally after flowering. Avoid mowing areas of grass where crocus are naturalised until they have completely died back.
