Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Cyclamen are treasured for their dainty, windswept blooms that emerge when few other species dare to. Bracing themselves against the cold, Cyclamen coum flowers in January and February, while Cyclamen hederifolium waits until the late autumn. Both produce a carpet of dark mossy-green foliage, overlaid with silvery marbling that makes an eye-catching display. These tough little tubers thrive in the dappled shade of deciduous trees and shrubs, but are equally happy in full sun, dotted through the rockery! Height: 10cm (4"). Spread: 15cm (6").

Cyclamen Bulbs Collection comprises 2 tubers each of:

  • Cyclamen hederifolium - Delicate pink flowers with reflexed petals in the autumn.
  • Cyclamen coum - Dainty pink blooms in the depths of winter, make a cheery companion for Snowdrops, Crocus and other early species.
  • Cyclamen coum subsp. coum f. pallidum 'Album' - Dazzling white petals with a flush of violet at the centre of each bloom create a mesmerising display.

Grow Cyclamen in a well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter, in partial or dappled shade. Work some organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Cyclamen grow best in the dappled shade of trees and shrubs, which helps avoid excessive summer moisture. When planting Cyclamen make sure the rough side of the tuber with the old stems and roots protruding is facing up and the smoother, rounded side is facing down. Plant the corms at a depth of just 3cm (1").
Allow the foliage to die back naturally as this will help to feed the tubers for the following year. Mulch Cyclamen tubers with leaf mould to protect them from hard frosts. Where Cyclamen are grown under deciduous trees, simply leave a covering of fallen leaves over the top of the tubers. Caution: harmful if eaten.
