Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Daylily 'Crimson Pirate' produces striking pillar-box red flowers with a yellow throat that each last a day; however these are present on plants for the entire summer. Evergreen Daylily plants are virtually indestructible; they are a resilient, hardy perennial that will flourish in the majority of soils. Hemerocallis plants are ideal in large patio pots or cottage garden borders; they are an ideal choice for both beginners and small gardens, as they are simply very easy to grow. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Culinary information: Try day lily petals in salads, soups or cooked and served as a vegetable. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant Hemerocallis in a sunny or semi shaded position in moist, well drained soil. Work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
Feed and water daylilies regularly throughout the growing season. Remove faded daylily flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, remove any yellowing foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant. Lift and divide clumps of daylily plants in autumn every third year to maintain their vigour.
