Give your patio some Mediterranean flair with these elegant Lantana ‘Orange’ standards. They are perfect for adding vertical accents amongst lower bedding displays. Single stems support a crown of shiny, dark, evergreen leaves covered in clusters of sizzling orange flowers that radiate tropical heat from spring until the first frosts. Heat and drought tolerant, Lantana ‘Orange’ is easy to grow and will attract a host of butterflies. This half-hardy shrub can be overwintered in a conservatory or greenhouse and then brought out in the spring to provide another colourful display. Tolerant of sea spray, it is a great choice for coastal gardens. Height: 1m (39in). Spread: 60cm (24in).

Pot up Lantana plug plants and grow them on in warm conditions until large enough to plant in their final positions. Grow Lantana in moist fertile, well drained soil in full sun. When growing in containers, use a soil-based mix such as John Innes No.2. Lantana requires a minimum temperature of 5C (41F).

Feed and water Lantata plants regularly. Lantana can be grown outside on a sunny patio during the summer months, but should be moved to a bright, warm position indoors by autumn. Reduce watering in winter, so that the soil is kept just moist. Lantana requires little pruning but can be lightly trimmed to shape in late spring.
