Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

The sweetest of lemons and prized by celebrity chefs due to its unique flavour, the Meyer Lemon is not actually a true lemon at all, but a unique cross between a citron and a mandarin. The fruit is around 8cm across and rounder than a true lemon with thin, fragrant skin that has an orange tint when ripe. The pulp is dark yellow with few seeds and has a much sweeter, less acidic flavour than true lemons. The peel is also edible.

Renowned for being more tolerant of cold temperatures, Lemon ‘Meyer’ is especially well suited to growing in the UK and makes a very pretty, compact tree for a sunny patio or conservatory. Glossy, evergreen foliage plays host to intensely perfumed waxy, white flowers with both flowers and fruit appearing throughout the year in good growing conditions. Lemon trees are capable of surviving brief periods below 0C, but are best grown in large containers and moved indoors to a bright frost free position from autumn to spring. This tree is self fertile and does not need a pollination partner. Height: 2.5-4m (8.2-13ft). Spread: 1.5-2.5m (5ft-8.2ft).

1 x 18cm Potted Plant (KF3448)

Plant citrus trees in patio containers in a mix of ericaceous compost and neutral, soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Repot the plant at its original soil level and firm well into the new container. Water well and position in a frost free position in full sun.
Stand citrus trees outside from May to October. Water freely in summer and mist leaves daily to increase humidity and discourage pests. Feed with citrus plant fertiliser every 2 weeks. Move plants indoors from October to a bright, frost free position (4-12°C) away from cold draughts and radiators. Reduce watering in winter but do not let the plant dry out completely. Too much or too little water may cause the fruits to drop.
