Description How to Grow Delivery

Originating from southern Africa, these curious Lithops feature intricate camouflage patterns that disguise them as pebbles to avoid being grazed by animals. Lithops consist of just one pair of bulbous leaves with a small gap between them from which new leaves and flowers emerge. The stemless leaves store water and the bulk of the leaf structure remains underground, enabling these cunning little plants to survive harsh, arid environments. Their low water requirements make them excellent as houseplants and during summer they may even reward with white or yellow daisy-like flowers. Height: 2.5-10cm (1-4in).

3 x 8.5cm Potted Plants (KF5098)
1 x 8.5cm Potted Plant (KF5097)

Grow on a very bright, south or east-facing windowsill in free-draining cactus compost.

These plants have very low watering requirements and the timing of watering is critical as strict dormancy periods must be observed. Watering too much or at the wrong time will cause the plant to rot and die.

Water very sparingly during the active growth period from about May until October. Pots should be allowed to dry out between waterings. Cease all watering from October and throughout winter, keeping the plants completely dry.

Commence watering again in late spring only when the old pair of leaves has completely withered away and the new leaves are well developed – this normally occurs around May.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on.
