For a shrub that provides winter interest in the garden, Viburnum tinus is hard to beat. From December until April the bush is filled with scented white flowers, that are then followed by dark blue-black fruit. It is RHS plants for pollinators approved. Suitable for a range of garden styles, and as it grows up to 3 metres tall, this Common Laurustinus is a good choice for a medium or large sized garden. Height and Spread: 3m (10').

Grow Viburnum tinus plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any moderately fertile, well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Evergreen Viburnums should be sheltered from cold, drying winds.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Viburnum tinus requires minimal pruning.
