Albizia julibrissin 'Tropical Dream'

Large, richly pink flowers distinguish this variety of the wonderful Silk Tree which was selected from a batch of seeds by the plant collector, Johan Possemiers. As well as having deeper pink flowers than the species, it is also one of the winter-hardiest varieties and the most floriferous at a young age

Albizia julibrissin ‘Tropical Dream’ forms a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub or small tree with a spreading, umbrella-like habit and feathery, mimosa-like foliage. The delicate-looking leaves fold closed in the evening and reopen in the morning. From July to September, it is smothered in a large number of sweetly-fragrant flowers looking like fluffy clusters of rich pink, silk threads.

Unusual flowers and foliage, and a long blooming period, make Albizia julibrissin ‘Tropical Dream’ perfect for adding an exotic feature to small gardens and large patio containers. Grow it as a free-standing specimen or trained against a sheltered, sunny wall. In small spaces, its height can easily be managed by considerate pruning. Maximum height: 4-8m (13-26ft). Maximum spread: 2.5–4 m (8-13ft).
