Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’ is particularly eye-catching, forming a neat arching mound of perennial grass for sun or shade. Its narrow yellow leaves are striped with green throughout the summer months, turning to orange-bronze in autumn. A very attractive hardy perennial as part of an autumn container or planted in a gravel garden, giving a Japanese feel. Height: 35cm (13"). Spread: 40cm (15").

Grow Hakonechloa in moist, well-drained soil. Choose a position in sun or partial shade.

Cut back old, flowered stems in winter and and remove dead foliage at the base of the plant.
