Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Hellebores are one of the first flowers to welcome a New Year in the garden, and sometimes even begin flowering in December. The Christmas Rose is ideal for shady borders, and makes useful ground cover underneath trees and shrubs.

Hellebores have colourful, nodding, cup-shaped flowers, which are long-lasting. Hellebore 'Single Clear White' produces some of the most beautiful, white flowers, and will give unmissable colour in the winter garden. Grow evergreen Hellebores in long, sweeping borders or large patio pots, they establish easily and quickly form neat clumps of growth. Height and spread: 45cm (18").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 9cm Potted Plant (KH0913)

Grow hellebores in neutral or alkaline soil, in dappled shade. Hellebores prefer a moist, humus rich, fertile soil that does not dry out in summer or sit waterlogged in winter. When growing hellebores on heavy clay or free draining gravel soils, add plenty of well rotted leaf mould or other organic matter to the soil prior to planting.
Mulch hellebore plants with well rotted manure or garden compost each spring. Hellebores resent disturbance after planting and may take some time to re-establish. However when clumps become overcrowded, lifting and dividing of hellebores should be undertaken immediately after flowering. Caution: Hellebore sap may irritate the skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
