Add this collection of RHS award-winning artists to your garden gallery! These viridiflora tulips have long-lasting blooms and are reliably perennial, making them a rewarding investment for repeat displays. These shorter tulips are ideal for border edges and containers.

Tulip ‘Artist Collection’ contains the following varieties:

  • Tulip ‘Artist’ This heirloom tulip emerges in a vibrant palette of juicy orange and plum with flashes of green. As the flowers mature, they adopt an antique look, the colours softening into watercolour shades of olive, lavender and salmon. Fluted and pointed petals enhance its vintage beauty. Height: 30cm (12in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
  • Tulip 'Blushing Artist' - Subtle artistry combines harmonising foliage and flower colours to create the perfect composition. Ivory petals blushed with pink and finished with a flourish of green are cleverly echoed in the broad foliage edged with white margins. Height: 40cm (16in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
  • Tulip 'Pink Artist' - Elegantly fluted petals in rose-pink are heightened with a dash of apple green. This dainty ensemble is poised above broad leaves edged with white margins, flowers and foliage chiming in perfect unison.

Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart.
After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer. Caution: Tulip bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten.
