Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Arguably the most indulgent of tulips, these double varieties feature multiple layers of silky petals composed into a bowl-shaped, peony-like flower. Late flowering, they are perfect for extending your tulip display into May, maintaining colour in the garden right up until the first summer perennials spring into life. Tulip ‘Doubles Collection’ includes two strikingly unusual varieties – the enormous flowers of coppery ‘Callahan’ and the streaky purple ‘Dancing Passion’.

Tulip ‘Doubles Collection’ contains 30 bulbs, 5 of each of the following varieties:

  • Tulip ‘Bendigo’ – Deep red with fringed petals. Height: 40-50cm (16-20in). Spread: 10cm (4in).
  • Tulip ‘Brisbane’ – Peachy blooms, blushed with pink and finished with yellowy fringed margins. Height: 40-50cm (16-20in). Spread: 10cm (4in).
  • Tulip ‘Callahan’ – Huge 8-inch flowers in coppery-orange and brown-purple with slightly fringed margins. Height: 40-50cm (16-20in). Spread: 10cm (4in).
  • Tulip ‘Dancing Passion’ – Bluish-purple streaked with paler midribs. Height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 10cm (4in).
  • Tulip ’Icoon’ – Rich red melting into fiery orange margins. Height: 45cm (18in). Spread: 10cm (4in).
  • Tulip ‘Queensland’ – Rose-pink with paler, fringed margins. Height: 35cm (14in). Spread: 10cm (4in).

30 bulbs (5 of each variety) (KF7949)

Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart.
After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer. Caution: Tulip bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten.
