Aftercare: Select an open position. Prepare the ground thoroughly by digging to a depth of 24 inches (60cm), adding plenty of manure. The crown of the young plants should not be buried, nor placed too high out of the ground. Water frequently, particularly in dry weather. Put straw down under the leaves at fruiting time. Mulch annually in February with manure or compost. Replace the whole bed every 3 or 4 years.
