Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

An extraordinary addition to the Coleus family, Coleus ‘Skeletal’ features ‘fish-bone’ fronds in a velveteen deep magenta, the edges dipped in luminous lime so that the distinctive silhouette of each leaf is brought into bold relief. New growth appears solid green before unfurling to reveal its head-turning colours. Coleus ‘Skeletal’ is sure to add a magic touch to your exotic arrangements, making a sensational statement in containers on the patio, at the front of borders or as a house or conservatory plant. Plants are strongly-branching and compact and the weather-proof foliage maintains its rich colours all season, thriving in both sun and shade. Despite its other-worldly appearance, Coleus ‘Skeletal’ is a tender, tropical perennial that is an absolute cinch to grow as annual bedding.  Height and spread: 30-35cm (12 -14in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Pot up Coleus plug plants and grow them on in warm frost-free conditions for transplanting later on. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise painted nettle plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before transplanting them outdoors into beds, borders and containers. Plant Coleus plants in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in a sunny or semi-shaded position. Solenostemon can also be grown as houseplants, situated on a warm, bright window sill or in a conservatory or heated greenhouse.
Feed and water Coleus plants regularly, particularly during hot, dry periods. Remove any developing flower spikes as they will weaken the plant and cause poor quality foliage. Coleus houseplants should be given full light and a warm position in the winter months. Reduce watering and keep the compost just moist to prevent rotting and fungal diseases developing. Pinch back Solenostemon plants in the spring as growth resumes.
