The vibrant, aromatic foliage of Caryopteris incana 'Sunny Blue' injects a bright splash of sunshine into the garden landscape throughout summer before bursting into contrasting blue flowers in autumn. This compact shrub is perfect for smaller gardens, its whorls of rich blue flowers offering valuable late interest and a welcome source of food for bees and butterflies before the onset of winter. This upright, deciduous shrub is perfect for dry, hot, sunny borders, happily thriving in thin soils and surviving periods of drought once established. Ultimate height and spread: 60cm to 90cm (24 - 35in).

Grow Caryopteris plants in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. In very cold areas, where summers are cool and winter temperatures fall below -15C, plant near a warm, sunny wall.

In spring each year, trim back the previous year’s flowered stems to within 2 or 3 buds of the woody framework.
