A fabulous addition to the ‘Chick Charms’ series, Sempervivum ‘Chick Charms Grape Galaxy’ features silvery-violet leaves, each tip dipped in aubergine.

The ‘Chick Charms’ series exhibits unique, long-lasting colours and better winter hardiness than older varieties. They make rewarding little plants for complete beginners and seasoned gardeners alike, providing interest throughout the year with their neat rosettes of evergreen leaves. These drought-tolerant, evergreen succulents enjoy a good baking in a sunny position and demand little else. They are perfect for collecting and it is easy to expand your selection as plants readily produce ‘babies’. Allow them to knit together through rockeries, wall crevices, over green roofs, in troughs and terracotta bowls. Children will love planting them into ‘mini-gardens’. Height: 5-8cm (2-3in). Spread: 10-15cm (4-6in).

Houseleeks require extremely good drainage. Grow sempervivum plants in sharply drained, gritty soil in full sun. Hairy species particularly resent cold, wet conditions and are best provided with some protection from winter weather.

Houseleeks are drought resistant and need little attention throughout the growing season. Divide overcrowded clumps in late spring to encourage their spread.
